ocated on the serene and picturesque Prospect Bay Beach in St. James Barbados, Portico stands as a true personification of sophistication and state of the art living that is distinct from any other residential development in the Caribbean.
Portico's extraordinary architecture, conceptualised by renowned architect Roldano Bellori, merges the interior living space with the property's stunning environs by utilising glass balustrades and ample windows that offer uninterrupted views of the Caribbean Sea.
The remarkable lifestyle afforded will undoubtedly surpass expectations with an impressive array of amenities, five-star concierge services and steadfast dedication to both personal and environmental well-being.
Commenting on the achievement, Managing Director of Aberconia Ltd., Mr. Chris Salt stated: "The success in winning outright these awards is wonderful news for the Portico team who have worked so diligently and passionately throughout its development. It is also great news for Barbados, which benefits from both the initial overseas investment as well as the subsequent on-going revenue from property owners and visitors. In addition to the jobs created during the construction phase, Portico's on-going management will supply nearly 35 full-time jobs to further benefit the community. Also it will do no harm whatsoever at times such as these to remind the rest of the world that as far as the ongoing provision of the very highest end products in the tourism industry goes, Barbados remains on top of the game. Apart from Portico I am encouraged to see other prestigious developments about to come on stream such as Apes Hill, Four Seasons, the Sands and Beachlands all in addition to some excellent developments already here. As far as Barbados goes there remain exciting times ahead."
The awards were presented in association with the New York Times at a gala held at the Ritz Carlton in Orlando, Florida on 7th November 2008. Two of the most outstanding entries in each category were given a four-star award, while the best overall entry achieved five-star recognition.
Judged by a panel of independent professionals chaired by Eric Pickles, British Shadow Secretary of State, the entries represented the United States, Argentina, the Caribbean, Mexico, Panama, Brazil, Canada, Uruguay, Belize and the French West Indies.
